                                                               Blog Post # 13

I have completed all of my reading novels for this semester! As my choice of book I read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. I absolutely loved this book! I loved it because it had a lot of emotions to the story, and it had a good plot to it. I also loved how John Green Augustus a character that everyone who love because of his personality, and his sweetness towards Hazel. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a inspirational novel

The Non-Fiction book that I read was The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This is defiantly a favorite of mine because it a mixture of emotions! At one point of the book you are cracking up laughing at little jokes the maids make or the pranks they pull on their "owners", but then you are almost to the point of tears to hear what would happen to them if they disobeyed the rules. I would recommend this novel to anyone who likes drama stories.

The  last book that I had to read was a book that normally don't tend on reading. The book that I read was The Maze Runner by James Dashner. I was surprised to see that I actually enjoyed this book! I found it to be very interesting and intriguing. This novel is defiantly not like the last two novels I read, and that is because it has to do with people dying. Other then some tragic parts, I really liked this book. I would recommend it to anyone who likes fictional/suspenseful books

                                                                   Blog Post # 12

I am excited to say that I have finished The Maze Runner! I did find this book very good! At the end of the book there was a MAJOR plot twist that made the entire book come together! So since the last time I read the book the boys threw Ben into the Maze to die because he was stung by the griever. After that you meet Minho. He is the leader of the runners. Also there is Alby who is Minho's good friend. They both go into the maze to try and trace Bens steps. As they both travel through the maze Alby is stung by a griever. Minho tries to bring Alby to the entrance of the maze to get him out, but the maze doors are already closing on them. As Thomas cant watch anymore he runs in after them, trying to help save them. The door then closes them in, causing them to spend the night in the maze...

The next day the three boys return from the maze, this makes all the other boys astonished by what they have just done! As the boys were in the maze they were able to find some routes that would help them escape later on. Thomas one again runs into the maze, but now the others follow. The boys travel through the entire maze to make it to a code that requires a password. Minho knows the password from the maze patterns. The door opens to a lab that is filled with dead bodies of scientists. A video is then showed to the boys of a women that congratulates them on making it through the maze. She then tells them that the planet has been destroyed by solar activity. As the lab that the women is being attacked in she shoots herself in the head. A group of armed men come into the lab that the boys are in to take them away in a helicopter. The helicopter then brings them over the maze and to a desert. The women that appeared to shoot herself is not really dead, and she calls out that the experiment that they had just completing was a success and that the boys are now going to enter phase two...

This book was very intriguing! I especially loved the ending. It added a twist that made the book 10x better! I am glad to hear that this book will become a sequel, and that there are more books to come! I am excited to see what happens in Phase Two of the next book! I recommend this to anyone who likes a good spine-chilling novel!

                                                                  Blog Post #11

I have started  a new book called The Maze Runner by James Dashner. This book is very interesting to me because it is about a boy named Thomas who is abducted and then trapped inside this maze. His memory is erased and he is surrounded by a lot of boys that watch him come out of the tube that brought him there. Confused, Thomas watches other runners loose their lives to going inside of the maze...but they were not fast enough. Thomas meets Chuck. He is a young chubby boy that was brought into the maze a while back. Thomas then becomes friends with Chuck, and they would go through the maze together.

Thomas finds out that every month a new person with supplies comes through the same elevator that brought him, and Thomas realizes that going through the maze is the only way to make it out. The only way you can go into the maze is if you are able to successfully make it through. You then become a "runner". The runners go throughout the land to look for certain escape routes once you enter the maze. Thomas goes out to gather some supplies but then he is attacked by Ben. A runner that has been stung by "Griever". A griever is a creature that roams the maze during the night. Since Ben has been stung by the griever, the other boys decide they need to banish Ben. They do this by throwing him into the Maze to die.

This is where is paused my reading. So far I am really enjoying this book! I find it to be very suspenseful and exciting to find out what will happen to Thomas and to see if he decides to go into the Maze to try and escape. I cant wait to see what happens!

                                                                    Blog Post #10

I finally finished my book The Help by Kathryn Stockett, and I absolutely loved it! It was so good and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a little bit of drama mixed with comedy. At the end of the book Aibileen works up enough courage to quit her job of being a maid for Hilly. She is tired of being mistreated ad she couldn't take anymore so she decided to quit. Also during the last couple of chapters Skeeter's book"he Help" was published! Almost everyone in town was reading her book, and some people finally got to see and understand what life was like being a black maid to a white family.

If I had to rate this book out of 5 stars I would definitely give it a 5 out of 5! I really loved this book. I loved how it changes your emotions throughout each chapter. In one chapter you are laughing at the joke Minny played on Hilly, and then the next chapter you are almost to tears from the abuse the maids got. I absolutely hate the fact that some of the things that actually happened in this book happened in real life! This is what is devastating about this story! Like I said before this book is definitely something you should read, but only if you like changing emotions!:)

                                                                          Blog post #9

I am almost done with the book The Help by Kathryn Stockett, and I am really happy with what I have read so far! Since the last time when Skeeter was interviewing Aibileen she asked Aibileen if she could get more maids to join the interview. Aibileen was a little nervous because she thought that all of the maids would not like her anymore because she was going against the rules and talking to a white women. Skeeter was very excited because some of the maids agreed to be interviewed to help Skeeter out. As Skeeter learned more about what the maids had to go through, she became very upset, and she knew she had to do something. Skeeter then began sticking up for the maids when their "owners" would mistreat them. The maids then became a lot closer with Skeeter.

My favorite part that happened in the book was that one time Aibileen talked back to Hilly (her owner) so Hilly was going to punish her, but then Aibileen went to her apologizing, and begging for forgiveness. So as a way to make Hilly forgive her, Aibileen made her a "chocolate pie" but little did Hilly know that the "chocolate pie" that Aibileen made for her was really her poop! Aibileen baked a pie for Hilly that was actually made out of her own poop! This was definitely my favorite part of the book because it was filled with a lot of humor!

This book did have a lot of comic references, but it also had some sad, depressing ones too... The part of the book that I found to be very sad was when Celia had a miscarriage. Other then this part, I find this book to be really amazing! And I cannot wait until I finish it!
                                                                    Blog # 8

I have started a new book. The book that I started is called The Help by Kathryn Stockett. This book is very interesting to me because it takes on the role of the civil rights movement of the 1960's. This book is in the point of view from all of the black maids working for their white families. You first find out about Aibileen Clark who is a very sassy women. Even though her "owner" tells her to do something she will do it...but she usually gives a snarky comment when she is asked to do something. Also in what I have read so far is that there is this white women named Skeeter Phelan, and she is very social, even with the people "her kind" is not suppose to talk to. Skeeter's best friend has Aibileen as her maid. Skeeter is a former college student who is determined to become a writer. As she becomes closer with Aibileen, she asks Aibileen a very important question... She asks Aibileen if she can interview her about what her life is like being a maid for a white family.

As Aibileen towards to saying no, because she knows that if anyone catches her and Skeeter talking about Aibileen's life then they will both get in trouble. Aibileen decides that she will let Skeeter interview her as long as they do it in private, and that know one can find out what they are doing. I am finding this book to be very interesting! I especially love the fact the author Kathryn Stockett adds some comedy to the book. This brings up the mood to the story because overall it is very sad book. Also because some of the events that take place in this book happened in real life!

I am really interested in to finding out what happens between Skeeter and Aibileen, and if they will get caught or not! But so far I really like this book!

                                                                             Blog Post

I am about half way through the book Paper Towns and I find it to be very interesting! To be honest I thought the book was getting a little boring after Margo went to Quentin's house. I felt like it was slow, but the more I read it started getting better and better.

What I have read so far was that Quentin was in his room when he heard a knocking at his window... there was Margo standing there waiting for Quentin to open the window so they could talk. To Quentin Margo was a legend so when he saw Margo at his window he was in shock! He wasn't sure why Margo was really at his door so he began to talk to her. As a request she asked him to drive her around town to complete a list of tasks she needed to accomplish by the end of the night. Since Quentin is obsessed with Margo he agreed to this adventure.

What I like about this book so far is that it shows the reader what Quentin and Margo's life was like when they were kids, and then it shows what is going on with their life now as teenagers. What I also like about this book is that it shows a lot of characterization within the text. By showing characterization it allows the reader to see what the characters really act like and what their personality is. I am looking forward to finishing this book to see what happens between Margo and Quentin.

                                                                        Blog Post

I am almost halfway through the book Paper Towns by John Green and I cannot put it down! I am really enjoying the plot to the story. What I have read so far is that Quentin is arguing with his friends because he told them he wasn't going to go to the Prom because he didn't have a date to go with. Quentin was jealous that his all time favorite crush Margo was going with another guy. Disappointed by Quentin decision, his friends try to set him up with a girl they think would be right for him.

During the night Quentin is in his room when he hears a knock at his window. The person that was there was Margo. Margo the legend! Surprised to see her Quentin couldn't even believe that he was actually having a serious conversation with Margo! She came to him to ask him for help with something very important to her...What she asked Quentin to do was to have him drive her around town so she could complete a list of very important tasks by the end of the night....

That was where I ended so far. I am very intrigued to see what the tasks are, and that is if Quentin actually agrees to driving her. My guess is that he will say yes, because to him Margo is a legend! I am enjoying this book a lot so I do not have many complaints. What I also really like about this book is that it really shows you the emotion of the characters. You can feel what the characters are feeling and I really like that in books. There are not many books that you can relate to how the character is feeling every once and a while.

                                                                       Blog Post

I have recently started a new book. The book that I started was Paper Towns by John Green. I am only a couple of pages into the book, and I already find it to be really interesting. The book starts off with a boy named Quentin Jacobsen, and he lives across the street from Margo Roth Spiegelman. She was not your typical ordinary girl. She was a legend. Well a legend to Quentin. He has loved her since childhood, and would only dream of the day when she would finally talk to him.

Prom is almost here and Quentin is jealous to see that Margo is going to go with her boyfriend Jace. HIs best friend Ben loves the idea of Prom and he really wants to go, but Quentin doesn't. He doesn't have a date to bring. Quentin then thinks about the idea of going to Prom and asking a girl. That is where I ended so far,

What I like about this book so far is that it starts off with explaining the relationship between Margo and Quentin when they were little kids. It also explained the night of when they went to the park and found a dead man under a tree! Straight from there it goes on to the present life. Which is when Margo and Quentin are in high school.

There are not many things that I do not like about this book. I am only a couple of pages in and I don't find it to be slow or anything. I cannot wait till I find out what happens between Quentin and Margo!

                                                                          Blog Post

The book that I continued on reading was If I Stay by Gayle Forman. I am very excited to say that I have finished the book...and I loved it! The story line became better and better as I continued to read, and I am so glad it did! This book is for the readers who like intense/romantic type novels. What I mean by this is that the story starts off with a tragic accident involving Mia and her family, then it goes back and forth from the past to the present. In the past it explains Mia's relationship with Adam.

What I like about the rest of the book is that it keeps the plot interesting. It doesn't fall "off the tracks" like some stories do. What I also like about the book in general is that it is both romantic and intense at the same time. It is romantic when it explains the relationship between Mia and Adam, and it gets intense when it explains about the crash and what the scene of the crash looked like.

What I did not like about this book is the ending of it. I don't want to spoil anything because I think it is better when you understand EVERYTHING that is going on during the story. So I will just leave that part alone, and if you want to know if Mia decides to stay...or live, you will have to read the book yourself!:)

                                                     Blog

The book that I read was If I Stay by Gayle Forman. I only have a couple of chapters left to read, and I cannot wait how the story turns out! So far what I have read was about how Mia and her family got into a really bad car accident, and her family had died. During the accident Mia's soul was able to see what everything looked like during the time of the crash. She the figured out that she could see everyone in the real world, but the people in the real world cannot see her. Mia watches herself as she is brought to the Hospital, and they perform multiple surgeries to try and save her life. She is visited by her boyfriend Adam, and he sees Mia and how she might not survive unless she fights for her life. He begs her to stay alive so he can be with her. The "spirit" of Mia watches Adam's pain for her. So far I love the book!

What I like about this book is that it goes back and forth showing Mia in her past life with her family and friends, and what her relationship with Adam was like. I think it brings more feelings towards the novel and the characters them self. What I also like about this book is that it has a story-line that I have never read before. What I mean by this is that the story shows the past and the present of the main character, and I think it is interesting when they do this.

I am glad I had kept on reading this story from when I first started because I cant stop reading it! I am enjoying reading this story so much that I really don't have any dislikes about it. I cannot wait till I find out what Mia decides. To let go and die and leave everyone behind...Or to live and have a whole new life with new challenges?

                                                   Blog Book: If I Stay

The book that I chose to read was If I stay by Gayle Forman. I am only a couple of chapters into the book but I already to find it amazing! I find it to be very interesting and emotional. This book is about a girl named Mia and she is driving along with her brother Teddy and her Mother and Father. It is a snowy dad and they decide to go and meet her Grandparents at their house. All of a sudden their car crashes into another car and it does not turn out well for Mia and her family. As Mia becomes a "spirit" she is able to see everyone and everything around her but they are unable to see her. She has to decide if she wants to come back to life or if she wants to die. The thing is if she comes back to life she will most likely be an orphan.

Even though I am only a couple of chapters into the book I am already excited to finish it! It is very intriguing and once you start reading it, it is hard to stop. You just want to keep reading until you finish the book! What I also like about this book is that it goes back and forth from Mia's past life and what is going on right now. I like how Gayle Forman did that because I like to see how Mia's past life was, and it brings more sentimental value to what is happening to her when she is in the hospital now.

What I don't really like about this book so far is that in the beginning it didn't really explain a lot about the characters. You had to get a chapter or two in till you actually found out about Mia, Teddy, and her rock star boyfriend Adam and her parents who used to be famous rock stars. I also didn't like that once you hear about Mia's boyfriend Adam you don't hear from him until a while after the crash. Other then that I am really enjoying this book and I cannot wait to see how it ends!

Rachel blog

This summer I read the book The Fault in Our Stars and the main theme of the story is that Augustus Waters shows Hazel how to live life and fall in love with the amount of time they had together. At first Hazel is not sure if she actually wants to fall in love because she thinks she is a grenade, and she doesn't want to hurt the people she loves. As Augustus shows her how to live her life to the fullest, she shows her true feelings towards him. "It seemed like forever ago, like we'd had this brief but still infinite forever. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities." This quote came from Hazel, and she is explaining how even with the time she had with Augustus she still felt like she was loved infinitely.

I really enjoyed the book The Fault in Our Stars. I found this book to be very intriguing and exciting. What I like about this book so much is that John Green made the characters have true emotion that people could have in real life. He doesn't make his characters fake. What I also like about this book is that it shows that even through hardships and struggles love can still be seen! Another reason why I love this book so much is that unlike most books it doesn't have a slow beginning, it gets right to the point. I hate it when books have an extremely slow beginning and it is not till have way through the book where it starts getting good!

There are some parts of the book I did not really like however. What I didn't like about the book was how they killed Augustus! I know it increased the drama of the story, but he turned out to be my favorite character, and I know I am not the only one that read this book and immediately fell in love with him! Another thing I didn't really like about the book was how we didn't really know a lot about Isaacs relationship with Monica. I would also have liked to know a little bit more about the trip to Amsterdam. Other then those couple of things I really loved this book! I would recommend it to anyone that would like to read a romantic drama novel.

The article I found was explaining some of the roles in the movie The Fault in Our Stars, and it was showing how the movie was relating to the book by John Green. The Fault in Our Stars Article.
